A total of 53 investment and acquisition projects occurred in September, with a total disclosed investment of approximately US$2.78 billion; among them, of which, there are 49 investment projects with a disclosed total amount approximately US$2.54 billion.

Acquired Israeli companies include: mobile game development studio Innplay Labs, retail software services company Retailsoft Retailsoft, cloud native application protection platform Ermetic, and SaaS security solution provider Atmosec.

Until September, the Israeli deals that China has involved in 2023 include: One Zero, Hexa, TinyTap, Optima Design Automation, NoTraffic, 40Seas and MitrAssist.

In September 2023, Israel has a total of 49 investment projects.

List of M&A Deals in September

1. Innplay Labs Mobile Game Development

On September 15, 2023, mobile gaming and interactive entertainment company Playtika Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: PLTK) announced that it has reached a final acquisition agreement with Israeli mobile gaming studio Innplay Labs. As part of the deal, Playtika will pay $80 million upfront and up to $300 million.

Innplay Labs was founded in 2019 with a dynamic team aiming to shape the next generation of mobile gaming.

Playtika believes the acquisition of Innplay Labs will expand its presence in the Luck Battle game genre and plans to drive continued, long-term growth for Innplay games by leveraging its LiveOps capabilities and proprietary technology.

LiveOps (Live Operations) refers to the real-time operations and management activities that developers continue to perform, aiming to enhance user experience, extend product life cycle, and maximize revenue.

2. Retailsoft retail software services company

On September 12, 2023, Priority Software, a global provider of business management tools, announced its strategic acquisition of Retailsoft for an undisclosed amount.

Retailsoft provides a dynamic platform with operational modules customized to the unique needs of each business. These modules include communication tools, job scheduling, goal setting, and real-time access to POS data across all locations. The platform ensures uninterrupted online communication between employees in different locations and introduces automation tools for document distribution and decision support.

Priority Software has made six acquisitions in the past two and a half years, and this one is designed to enhance its retail management products and services and bring greater value to retailers. The acquisition will enable Priority to market unique end-to-end solutions integrating ERP systems, retail management systems (RMS), point of sale (POS), employee management and RetailSoft's technology.

POS data refers to point of sale (Point OfSale) data. Point of sale usually refers to those places where sales transactions occur, such as stores, supermarkets, restaurants, etc. POS data includes all information related to a sales transaction recorded in a point-of-sale system.

3. Ermetic Cloud native application protection platform

On September 8, 2023, Tenable, a leader in exposure management, announced plans to acquire Ermetic, a cloud native application protection platform (CNAPP) provider. The acquisition amount is approximately US$240 million in cash and US$25 million in restricted stock and restricted stock units. The transaction is expected to close early in the fourth quarter of this year.

Founded in 2019, Ermetic offers a range of cloud security solutions, including Runtime Cloud Workload Protection Platform (CWPP), Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management (CIEM), Automated Kubernetes Security and Compliance (KSPM) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scanning. Ermetic is developing these capabilities into a CNAPP platform.

Tenable plans to integrate Ermetic's cloud security capabilities into its One Exposure Management Platform, which will enhance risk visibility, prioritization and remediation for on-premises and cloud infrastructure.

4. Atmosec SaaS security solution

On September 6, 2023, Check Point Software Technologies, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, announced the acquisition of Atmosec. The acquisition amount has not been disclosed.

Atmosec was founded in 2021 and is dedicated to solving security issues in SaaS applications, including third-party SaaS communication risk protection and correcting SaaS configuration errors.

Check Point is known for its cybersecurity solutions that protect businesses and public institutions from cyber threats. The acquisition will enhance its SaaS security, enabling continuous SaaS posture management and application security stack. By integrating Atmosec's innovative technology, Check Point aims to deliver the industry's most secure SASE solution, ensuring a robust and adaptive zero-trust network environment.
